About Fauzulyusri

Born in Kedah and trained at UiTM under the mentorship of Yusof Ghani, Fauzulyusri is a premier Malaysian contemporary artist celebrated for his sophisticated naïve style paintings. His work is a masterful exploration of material and technique, utilizing heavy-bodied pigments, oil paints, and industrial textures on raw surfaces like linen and jute. By engraving into thick base layers and employing "scratched" mark-making, he creates a signature surface scarring that mirrors urban graffiti and the grit of contemporary city living. These lively, layered visuals—ranging from childhood-inspired geometric abstractions to cropped, floating figures—offer a unique spatial depth that has captured the attention of global collectors, including renowned architect Norman Foster.

Fauzulyusri's prolific career is marked by over 14 solo exhibitions, including his 2023 showcase "BATU" at TAKSU and earlier milestones like Coreng, Primitive, and Whiteground. A recipient of the National Art Gallery's Young Contemporary Art Award, his accolades include the Bank Negara Kijang Art Award. His artworks are featured in prestigious institutional collections such as the Saatchi Gallery London, Ilham Gallery, and the Singapore Art Museum. For those seeking to buy Fauzulyusri art, his portfolio represents a vital bridge between playful innocence and mature, tactile abstraction, making him a cornerstone of Malaysian fine art investment.
