About Fendy Zakri

Born in 1982, Fendy Zakri is a standout minimalist artist in Malaysia whose work is defined by a deep reverence for nature and a unique background in engineering. Unlike many of his peers, Zakri is a self-taught artist whose structural thinking—informed by a Diploma in Civil Engineering—translates into meticulously balanced compositions. His art often explores "evanescence and phantasmagoria," focusing on the ever-changing cycles of the moon, fog, and light. Under the mentorship of master artist Fauzulyusri, Zakri has developed a signature style that utilizes geometric forms and biomorphic shapes on mature surfaces like oil on jute, creating a "self-searching" experience for the viewer that balances crisp technical edges with profound spiritual reflection.

Zakri's trajectory in the Malaysian fine art market has been marked by significant milestones, including being a finalist for the Malaysian Emerging Artist Award (MEAA) and receiving the Mekar Citra Incentive Award. His acclaimed solo exhibitions, such as Seeing The Unseen, Moonlight Fragment, and the recent "Into the Moon's Groove" (2022) at TAKSU, have solidified his reputation across Southeast Asia and Seoul. His works are highly prized by prestigious international entities, held in collections such as the LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton Group, Mandarin Oriental (Singapore), and the ELSE Hotel & Retreat (KL). For collectors looking to buy Fendy Zakri art, his pieces offer a rare fusion of industrial structure and poetic naturalism, making him a pivotal figure in modern Malaysian abstraction.
