Ronnie Mohamad was born in 1978 and has been drawing since he was seventeen. Self-taught and largely self-directed, he developed his practice through sustained study of anatomy and the human figure, working primarily in charcoal — a medium he finds particularly well-suited to capturing gesture, movement, and muscular form.
His first solo exhibition, An Exploration, was held at Purplehouz Gallery in Petaling Jaya in 2013. In 2016, he participated in Art Basel Hong Kong and was selected to represent Malaysia in a Tourism Malaysia cultural promotion in Helsinki, Finland. His works have been shown at Segaris Art Centre, the National Art Gallery Malaysia as part of the KL Biennale, and Galeri Z. Ronnie's approach to figurative drawing — disciplined, observational, and physically charged — has established him as a distinctive voice among younger Malaysian artists working in the figurative tradition.
